The word is a combination of the aramaic words, ad d’lo yada which translate to until one no longer knows, a reference to the talmudic injunction to drink on purim until one reaches a state of not being able to distinguish between the evil haman and the blessed mordechai. Purim 2024 begins shabbos night, march 23, and continues through sunday, march 24 (extending through monday in yerushalayim).
